Methodist prelate abducted in Abia state

The bishop of the Methodist Church in Nigeria, the Rev. Samuel Kanu Uche, was abducted by gunmen on Sunday, May 29.

Kanu was abducted on Ihube-Leru-Isuochi Road in Umunneochi Local Government Area of ​​Abia State at about 7pm yesterday.

Police have confirmed the incident, which has left church officials fearful of the safety of their leader.

Dennis Mark, bishop of Owerri, and another priest were reportedly abducted during the attack.

Geoffrey Ogbonna, a spokesman for Abia police, said efforts were being made to ensure that the clergy were rescued.
