Drug abuse is the cause of insecurity in Nigeria — Hon. Nnamdi Umeh .

An Anambra lawmaker, Nnamdi Umeh, has stated that the high rate of dr#g ab*se among youths is the major factor propelling insecurity in the country.

Mr. Umeh, also the House Committee Chairman on Health, made the assertion while speaking with Newsmen in Awka on Tuesday.

“Insecurity is bedevilling our society and there is no way we can curtail it without addressing the causes, one of which is drug abuse among our youth. Many youth today have lost dignity and focus, while many have severe health challenges owing to drug misuse” he said.

The lawmaker said he said he calling on National Drug Law Enforcement Agency, (NDLEA), and other stakeholders to “embark on intensified sensitization of youths on the dangers of drug and substance misuse

“Such sensitisation will help the youth to understand that no one who indulges in dr#gs live a successful life.
