The Ondo State Command police have arrested four people on suspicion of involvement in a robbery in a state area.
The robbers included Victor Bright, 21, Abdulrahim Mohammed, 22, Friday Emmanuel, 27, and Mohammad Sule, 23, and one Abayomi Abiodun, 20, was arrested for killing the boy.
Three suspected robbers were arrested in Owo, the capital of the Owo Local Government Area in the province for allegedly robbing a man of his motorcycle and cellphone. A fourth suspect was arrested in Akure.
State police spokeswoman Funmi Odunlami said this in a statement on Friday.
The statement said, “A robbery case was reported in ‘A’ Division Owo that on April 20, 2022, at around 12:30 am a motorcyclist known as Okada, was robbed by a gang of four robbers behind Complete. Child, Owo. One of the robbers, Victor Bright, pretended to be a passenger while members of his gang hid in the woods. Unbeknownst to the driver, the motorcyclist was hiding a rope in his pocket, and while on the way he pulled out a rope and tried to strangle his neck. They both fell off the motorcycle as members of his team came out of the woods to rob a motorcyclist of his Bajaj boxer motorcycle, one Infinix cellphone and a sum of N100,000.
“When they received the information the detectives immediately stepped up and arrested the suspects. The suspects confessed to the crime and said their jewelry was to rob people of motorcycles, phones and other valuables. They also agreed to sell the motorcycle mentioned to Amos in one full Sunday, at a cost of 180,000. ”
PPRO said the suspect, Abiodun, was arrested for killing one Mohammad during a dispute in the Ebute area of Okitipupa, the headquarters of the Okitipupa Local Government Area in the region.
“An argument broke out between 17-year-old Mohammed (now late) and 20-year-old Abayomi Abiodun who ended up fighting and then took a knife and stabbed the victim in the neck and died on the spot,” Odunlami said.
