KWARA: Two killed, several others abducted as gunmen attack travellers in Kwara

Suspected gunmen attacked a bus traveling on Obbo Ayegunle-Osi Road in the Ekiti Local Government Area of ​​Kwara State, killing two people and abducting several others.

The incident happened around 5pm on Saturday, June 4, when armed men attacked an 18-passenger bus and REG NO XC 167 MUN, from Ilorin Kwara.

The driver was identified as Akeem, while another mother, Ariye, died while other passengers were abducted.

Confirming the incident on Sunday, June 5, state police spokesman Ajayi Okasanmi said the police commissioner had ordered a man to start hunting down the perpetrators.

“When they received information about Obbo Ayegunle police, police, security guards, local hunters and members of the private sector rushed to the scene,” the statement read.

“The bodies were taken to the Carosi Hospital morgue in Osi for autopsy, when they stormed the bush to rescue the captives.

 

“The commissioner of police, Cp on Tuesday Assayomo, when he heard about the tragic incident, ordered the search for the perpetrators of the crime and ordered a march to the local commander and the full police force.

Empathizing with the families of the victims, the Commissioner of Police confirmed that the perpetrators would be shot wherever they hid.

“Therefore, the CP has mandated 24-hour surveillance in the area in conjunction with other security agencies to boost public confidence and prevent any attacks in the area,” he added.
