Obaseki condemns Owo attack, condoles with Akeredolu, victims’ families

The Governor of the Edo State, Mr. Godwin Obaseki, condemned last weekend’s attack on worshipers of the Catholic Church St. Francis in Owo, Ondo State, which led to the horrific massacre of many, including women and children.

In a statement issued to Newsmen, signed by his Special Adviser to Media Projects, Mr. Crusoe Osagie, governor-general, said the senseless act had shattered the nation’s war on terrorism.

He said, “I strongly condemn the attack on innocent people in St. Paul’s Catholic Church.

“This ridiculous act in a church where many have gathered for spiritual comfort and worship to God has tarnished the image of our nation’s war against terrorism.

“I sympathize with the families who have lost loved ones in this shameful act we have never heard of in the history of Owo, a peaceful and peaceful city with inseparable relations with the people of Edo State.”

Obaseki continued, “I also extend my condolences to our colleagues, the Governor of Ondo State, Rotimi Akeredolu, SAN, and all the people of Ondo State. Let me assure you all that at this dark and tragic time in our history as people separated by an unsettled local border, you are not alone.

“You can count on our prayers, support and cooperation for all of us in this difficult time together, as we take steps to ensure that the perpetrators of this heinous crime are caught and that this cowardly act of cowardice has never been perpetrated in our country. and forever.
