PDP Primaries: Udom Emmanuel Shows Promise, Restores Hope

As the presidential race intensifies, the PDP primaries are being watched by many around the world. With just a few days left, those wishing to enter the entire party are preparing for the final steps to go to the primaries. Among the most frequently mentioned are Udom Emmanuel the Governor of Akwa Ibom. In just 55 years, he is one of the youngest aspirants to become president of the PDP.

Emperor Udom, who was able to turn Akwa Ibom’s internal economy into a multi-billion dollar IGR, showed great skill in delivering the best of the little. For example, agriculture, which had been largely neglected before his administration, has now become a mainstay of the country’s economy and leader in Nigeria. A few days ago, the government introduced the first coconut oil refineries in Africa and 11,000 hectares of coconut field to run it.

With Akwa Ibom on the way to exporting coconut oil, governor Udom Emmanuel has ensured that young people have a platform to get the product. She did this through her DAKKADA business development program which provided a lot of youth training, seed support and skills development forums to test her skills.

The industrial development Akwa Ibom has seen over the past few years is proof that Udom Emmanuel drive is working. At least 20 industries with long-term economic benefits and other government venture projects have emerged over the past seven years. These strong economic policies have also attracted Foreign Direct Investments to industries that did not exist before his administration.

During a meeting with the PDP’s board of trustees, Governor Emmanuel made it clear that Nigeria was facing a storm and was determined to bring peace to the region. He acknowledged that Nigeria had been richly blessed with abundant resources and would bring many resources to a more favorable environment for human resource development, strengthening security and fighting for new transformation across the industry.
