The bishop of the Methodist Church in Nigeria, the Rev. Samuel Kanu-Uche, who was abducted by gunmen in Abia State, said the church had paid N100m for liberation.
In an interview Tuesday in Lagos, a priest told our reporter that he had been beaten by his captors.
He said the gang threatened to kill him if the N100 million was not paid.
Auntyamebo blog reported that Kanu-Uche was abducted on Sunday near the Enugu-Port Harcourt Expressway, Umunneochi Local Government Area of Abia State.
He was abducted along with his pastor, Very Rev. Abidemi Shittu, and the Bishop of Owerri, Rt. Pastor Dennis Mark.
However, they were released on Monday.
